Labour has a long history of championing the rights of Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) people across our country. But there’s still a long way to go — and we’ll only get there if all of our voices are heard. Find out more about what we stand for and how you can lead the way with Labour.

Labour has launched it’s Race and Faith Manifesto. It places equality at the heart of our plan for government and will start to right the wrongs against those who continue to be treated unfairly due to their race, ethnicity, and faith.

“Labour is the Party of equality. We were built on the values of social justice, internationalism and human rights. Our values are rooted in the fundamental truth that whatever your background, wherever you are from, you should have the means and opportunity to fulfill your potential.” – Jeremy Corbyn

Our Race and Faith Manifesto covers a variety of areas, including the following;

Unlocking potential

  • Employment and fair pay
  • Equality at work
  • A new deal for business

Public life

  • Our democracy
  • Representation at all levels
  • Diversity in our media

A public sector that works for all

  • Ending health inequalities
  • Access to education
  • A fairer judicial system

“A Labour government will create a standalone Women and Equalities Department which for the very first time will be headed by a Secretary of State. We’ll develop and deliver a national equalities strategy, lead on reducing discrimination and inequality, and ensure this is enforced through all machinery of government. We will equality-proof all legislation before, during and after implementation; this would prevent another Windrush scandal ever happening again.”

Dawn Butler, Annual Conference 2018
